Unlike other gemstones, each agate is unique.
Even slabs cut from the same specimen will vary in color and design.
They bring wonder and magic to your home or business with their swirls of color bands.
Its hardness is nearly the same as granite (Level 7, on the Mohs Scale), therefore, it can be used in kitchen countertops and islands, vanity tops, wall panels, a hotel lobby, bar tops, flooring (with very low traffic) and even framed, as a piece of art.
When backlit, it will give you a different effect and mood.
With the initiative to bring new meaning to the idea of everyday luxury, Ferraz Brasil creates it’s Semi Precious Collection – ALLURE.
The collection is composed by eight colors of Agate and one Cristallo.
The first one, with the following colors: Agate Blue, Agate Black, Agate Red, Agate Green, Agate Natural Classic, Agate Antique Blue, Agate Tropicalia, Agate Earth.
The second, White Crystal, is a white and translucent material made of pieces of Cristallo.
Both of them are a different and unique mix of shapes and colors, making each slab a true piece of art.
Agate is the name given to numerous varieties of banded Chalcedony, a mineral of the Quartz family, characterized by its fineness of grain and brightness of color.
Its name comes from the Achetes River in Sicily, where Agates were first found.
Usually banded in layers, or stripes, some varieties have "eye" markings, or specks of color, some have fossilized inclusions, and others are solid.
The lovely color patterns and banding make this translucent gemstone very unique.
Called the earth rainbow, the concentric bands of Agate form in nearly every color the earth can produce, including a colorless form.
Historically, Agate has been discovered with the artifacts of Neolithic people, and was used as healing amulets and ornamentation dating back to Babylon.
Its medicinal uses continued through the ancient Greek and Egyptian civilizations, and spread throughout Africa and the Middle East into Russia.
Agate sparked a world renowned stonecutting and polishing industry in Germany that flourished from the 15th to the 19th century.
Today, Brazil is the world’s number one producer of agates and its mines are located mainly in the southern regions of the country.
The first mines were discovered in 1827, by immigrants coming from the region of Idar-Oerstein in Germany.
Metaphysically, Agate has a lower intensity and vibrates to a slower frequency than other stones, but is highly regarded as a stabilizing and strengthening influence.
The layered bands of microscopic quartz in Agate may appear delicate, but they are actually very strong.
Agate is excellent for balancing emotional, physical and intellectual energy, and in harmonizing yin and yang, the positive and negative forces of the universe.
